The U.S. National Science Foundation

Center for the Creation of Abiotic Replicating Materials and Assemblies

The grand vision of CARMA is to develop chemistry that enables self-replicating abiotic polymers and materials that exhibit life-like properties. The center aims to generate chemical replicators that repair themselves akin to how a body heals wounds or muscles that strengthen upon stress.
