Stephen Martin

Stephen Martin is a professor of chemistry at The University of Texas at Austin and holds the M. June and J. Virgil Waggoner Regents Chair in Chemistry. He earned a B.S. in chemistry from the University of New Mexico in 1968 and a Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1972. After postdoctoral appointments at LMU Munich and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he joined the UT Austin faculty in 1974. Martin has received numerous honors, including the Alexander von Humboldt Prize, the Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award and the Ernest Guenther Award in the Chemistry of Natural Products, and is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Chemical Society.
